Rattray’s Shop on High Street

The shop owned by the Rattray Family on High Street was opened in the 1930s, following a relocation from another premises. The shop was a place for people of all ages to get together, enjoy the cafe, the jukebox and Rattray’s famous ice cream.

Edith shares some memories of the family's shop

The back room of the shop contained a billiards and snooker room where the local boys would get together to play. On a Sunday, the room was given over to the girls. These clips show the room at the back of the shop during the 1960s.
